As it's January and last year has gone past in a blur, it's time to reflect on where we've been and where we're taking the business in 2012, and how we can improve our services to our clients and help them do even better in the new year. It's been hectic year with many new things coming at us from all directions, so we hope you'll enjoy this brief overview on some of the projects we've been involved in over the last few months. Also, a big thanks to all that turned up to our studio warming party back in May. We really appreciated your efforts and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We still have a bit of work yet to make the studio truly ours, but we're getting there. So, please feel free to drop in anytime... we have an open house policy as long as you can make a good cuppa! |

TeamEffort |
||
Working with the bid team at Shepherd Construction, we got involved in helping them get their bid proposals out in a more professional and manageable manner. Fast turn around and lots of pressure, but worth the effort as things are progressing very nicely for them. The main problem with any PQQ and Tender Document is that they are normally turned around in a matter of days and have lots and lots of content. Our objective was to make the context easily digestible and easy to understand, something that many documents fail to do... communication graphics at the sharp end. |

SummerDays |
||
During the wonderful, heady summer months we all had (said with sarcasm), we zipped over to Grimsby to create some lovely images for Daniella Drapers' new website, which we've created to promote and sell her new jewellery range. The weather was hit and miss - but very hot. A tough days shoot trying to get the most out of it, but with the help of Daniella's family and friends we got some great results. A new website was needed for local garden centre Dunscar, but the project expanded into a brand refresh with new store exterior and interior signage to go with their recent refurb. The organisation wasn't looking for a big move on from what they already had, but needed a simple twist to bring it up to speed with where the business is heading. We introduced a new typeface, colour palette and a small series of detailed line illustrations. |

LogoDepartment |
||
This last year has seen a big growth in the logo creation department, producing many throughout the year. Always nice to work on, and very much enjoyed in the studio, we feel it gives new life to a business or organisation when done correctly and embraced. |

A new logo and brand identity has been created for Cassidy & Ashton Architects last autumn to launch a new marketing strategy with The Write Angle in 2012. Using the font Serifa, we created this new type-logo with the C+A marque to be positioned as a separate devise, with no fixed position, to vary the marketing material and stationery. |

Formed in 2009 as the sub regional lead body for the 2012 Olympics and Cultural Olympiad, this steering group has a role to co-ordinate, promote and maximise the value for Lancashire from the London Games. Wash was briefed to create a dynamic logo and website for the organisation and consequently develop a number of deliverables for their activity of the coming months leading up to the games. |

BrandEducation |

Over the last few years we have continued to build on our credentials within the education sector, with on-going work for Chetwynde and Teesside High School, but this year also saw a rebrand for the Beechkeys Care & Education Group with a set of complimentary logos, brochures and websites for each division of the organisation. |

Blaze the ambitious youth-led culture and sport programme for Lancashire, Blackpool and the Fylde Coast and part of WE PLAY, the North West cultural legacy programme for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has continued to gather momentum this year with various communications being produced and events held... some really ambitious youngsters out there and we are proud to be a part of it. |

Each year we try and take ourselves up a hill in the Lakes followed by a pub feast and washed down with ale... however, this year we thought we'd do something more cultural and less physical. So we headed North on the train to Edinburgh for a couple of days to get some inspiration from the galleries... and the whiskey! |

Our very own Emma Smart has once again featured in a design publication featuring her private work. Much of Emma's art is needle work and this book demonstrates how she brings this skill into her typography knowledge. |

We kindly got invited to write our Design Top Five for Creative Times talking about what inspires us to do what we do. We featured some fantastic design studios, ones we really admire and respect. The first feature was about WhyNotAssociates and the recently completed comedy carpet in Blackpool working with artist Gordon Young... This is a piece if work that is a must see. It's brilliant! |
