Wine of the Weekend

Bread & Butter Rosé

THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF THE YEAR IS ALMOST HERE! Forget holidays, forget long weekends, forget your birthday… this one is bigger than all of them combined. Sunday is Mother’s Day, our annual tribute to the wonderful women who gave us birthdays! This year, to honour Mom, we have selected Bread & Butter Rosé as our Wine of the Mother’s Day Weekend. This will make a beautiful addition to your table and wow mom on her first sip!

Tasting Notes: This wine takes two iconic Old World grapes – Grenache of French and Spanish fame, and Barbera, an Italian staple – and combines them with a California flare that makes for a juicy, delicious sip. It bursts with strawberry, raspberry and watermelon, all with a lively acidity, and closes with a clean, refreshing finish.

Enjoy With: Almost anything on the brunch table like eggs benedict or BLTs, as well as pasta salad, grilled chicken or pork, and rich fish like salmon or trout.

Style: A juicy, medium-bodied, rosé wine.

Terroir/Region: Bread & Butter Rosé combines the efforts of growers up and down the California coast. The important word there is coast – the vineyards near the ocean benefit from cool air and morning fog that allows grapes to gradually be exposed to the intensity of the California sun, creating balanced flavour development and preventing sunburn.

Producer: The team at Bread & Butter wines started out with the goal of creating your favourite everyday wine, your ‘bread and butter’ so to say. It thinks that a great wine should be something that does not break the bank, that is delicious enough for you to enjoy at home or be happy to give as a gift, and that is consistent from year to year, so you never have to guess what it will taste like.

Availability: Bread & Butter Rosé can be found in the Rosé section of your local LCBO. Remember to pick up an extra bottle. The only thing Mom will like more than a glass of B&B Rosé is knowing there’s more!
