CDP AT THE HEART OF DECISION-MAKING

Paul Simpson appointed to help guide the future of the Clean Development Mechanism

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change recently announced that the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is to be evaluated and reviewed by a high-level panel, which has been tasked with conducting a dialogue with interested stakeholders to assess CDM experiences and make recommendations for the positioning of the mechanism post-2012. Although this is an initiative of the CDM Executive Board and will be supported by the UNFCCC Secretariat, the dialogue will be conducted independently from January 2012, with recommendations to be made by September 2012. We are delighted to announce that one of the panel experts will be CDP’s CEO Paul Simpson. Please contact Kate Levick, Head of Government Relations at CDP for further information.

CLIMATE CHANGE REPORTING

US Environmental Protection Agency’s GHG reporting programme

A team led by RTI and comprising of CDP, Accenture, LMI and others has won a place on the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) five-year framework to deliver the Greenhouse Gas Mandatory Reporting platform. The team will bid for projects within the programme. Potential activities will involve providing support to the EPA in the development and deployment of the mandatory reporting rule, which is being rolled out under the Clean Air Act and will mean that every facility emitting over 25,000 tonnes of carbon will be required to report. Please visit the EPA website for further information.
