Local Love Notes

From now until Valentine`s Day, you`ll find Local Love Notes all over town.  For a $1 donation to a local charity, you can leave a Love Note to someone you secretly admire, to the love of your life, or to simply profess your love for something local.

Open City is Coming Back!

Given that it was our biggest and most succesful event ever, you didn`t think it would be a one time deal did youÉÉ

This year`s Open City will be held on Saturday, May 11.  There will be Back Door Take Out from some of Halifax`s greatest restaurants, special events at shops, live music and an open invitation to museums and city attractions to open their doors wide open for all to enjoy. 

The goal of Open City is to have you try something new, or to re-experience something in a new way so that you can all become better ambassadors for our fair city.

Brooklyn Warehouse Crowdfunding

Our friends at Brooklyn Warehouse are at it again with a crowdfunding campaign to finance their new kitchen.  It`s a unique way to finance their kitchen reno project and the good news you get to eat your investment.

Biscuit General to LaunchTheir Own Clothing Line

Wendy Friedman, owner of Biscuit General Store has unveiled plans for her own clothing line, Bonanza which will be hitting the racks this spring.  Read all about it in this piece from the Chronicle Herald.

P'Lovers Supports Hope for Wildlife

P’lovers just sent “Hope for Wildlife” over $200 representing the diversion of over 3600 bags from the landfill.  Rather than charging people for bags, P’lovers rewards customers who choose not to take a bag by donating 5 cents on their behalf to a local charity.  Over the last 6 years, P’lovers has diverted almost 36,000 bags and raised almost $1800 for local non-profit organizations.

One of I Love Local's members, Boutique Joliette has been seeing some increased traffice once word got out that one of the local artisans they carry in their boutique had her work featured at the Golden Globes awards this year.
