May 2014

Find fresh inspiration this spring and share your experiences with the people of the Northwest.  The birds are chirping, leaves unfolding and soft hues of green are emerging everywhere.  What better time of year to connect with animals, marine life, birds, fish and even our own colourful locals in their natural habitats?!  This month marks the official opening of the 5th Annual SkeenaWild Film Festival, as well as, the SkeenaWild Film Camp.  Get stoked to tell your Skeena story!

5th Annual SWFF Officially Open

Picture This.  Our region holds some of the most dramatic landscapes and compelling subjects such as the panoramas of the Skeena mountains, towering old-growth cedars, bears grazing or that crazy kid next door.  You really don’t have to venture far to capture great images and interesting video.  In fact, our cover model was spotted just this past weekend in the Nass Valley.

This year officially marks a special milestone for the SkeenaWild Film Festival – it’s our 5th Annual!  With over 500+ films and photos submitted over the past four years, SWFF has become the largest film and photo festival of Northwestern BC.  In addition to our regular line-up of categories, this year features:

~ New categories for the ‘Best SmartPhone Pic or Video’ and the sure to be hilarious ‘Funniest Skeena Story’
~ All categories segmented by experience: amateur or professional
~ Amazing prizes and promotion of your work
~ An extended tour throughout the Northwest
~ Opportunities to engage with SkeenaWild, our partners and much more

Click here for all the details.  The first FIVE entries will receive a SkeenaWild t-shirt.

As always, SWFF aims to show through video and photography our connection to the Skeena.  We are here to support you through the process.  Let us know if you need a GoPro, a handheld video camera or some help editing.  Choose your subject and move your creative ideas forward – we all have a story to tell
