Rethinking Child Poverty

Crude and flawed yardsticks for measuring child poverty should be scrapped and replaced with a range of new indicators reflecting the true causes of deprivation, argues the latest CSJ publication, Rethinking Child Poverty.

Christian Guy, Managing Director of the CSJ, said: “Labour's misguided child poverty targets have wasted over £150 billion pounds of taxpayers' money. By not reforming this misfiring system, the Coalition risks doing nothing to tackle child poverty”.

Building a social recovery?

The CSJ’s annual report card, Building a Social Recovery?, scored the Government’s performance in tackling the five pathways to poverty.

It highlights that efforts to strengthen the family have fallen victim to a political tug of war.

The State should do more to help addicts

Christian Guy became a prominent voice in debates on how the welfare system can best support those addicted to drugs and alcohol.

In interviews with BBC Radio Five Live and BBC One’s Breakfast, Christian argued that we should do more to make sure that those in need take-up treatment. The CSJ’s Managing Director said "It’s about believing in better for people with drug and alcohol addictions".
