Gawker Artist Kenneth E. Parriss III has been on tour with members of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company for two years documenting their world tour through a series of drawings. Focusing on what happens on the road before and after performances, his exhibition 104 Work Weeks: On Tour With the Merce Cunningham Dance Company is a tribute to the final generation of dancers trained by Cunningham and the journey embarked on together. The exhibition opens on December 29th at Chashama Gallery at 217 East 42nd Street and runs through January 10th.

Six months ago, Parris was invited by The New York Times to post one drawing per week to the ArtsBeat Blog for an ongoing series titled Drawing Dance. This exhibition will also be the first opportunity to see these original drawings.

Fountain Art Fair returns to its 25th St / North Miami warehouse for the 6th consecutive year with its compellingly raucous platform of alternative galleries, independent artists, and musical performances. This year’s programming features several art experiences, including a weekend-long program of contemporary visual performance curated by Grace Exhibition Space, the Fish Tank art vehicle and an installation by Cheap and Plastique.
