GATEWAY85 CID RELEASES NEW VIDEO!
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then a video might be worth 10,000 or more! Gateway85 Community Improvement District, the largest CID in the state, has released a new video that showcases the district's tremendous growth and changes that have made it THE place to do business in Gwinnett County.
WELCOME VICTORIA SMITH TO GATEWAY85 CID
Gateway85 is proud to announce the addition of Victoria Smith as the new office and communications manager. Victoria will have a range of responsibilities from helping to organize events for members to marketing efforts to promote the district, as well as administrative duties to ensure the office runs smoothly. Please say hello to Victoria!
INCREASED SECURITY FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The holiday surge in patrols has been paying off by keeping targeted crime rates down. In fact, the CID is on track to have some of the lowest crimes rates in the district since 2016. Gateway85 CID has contracted additional security guards to patrol the area during peak holiday shopping hours as well as late at night into the early morning. However, we urge businesses and visitors to the district to be vigilant in following these tips to be safe. - If you are carrying a wallet, keep it in a front pocket.
- Be sure to
walk in well-lit, highly traveled streets…even during daytime hours. Never take shortcuts through parking lots or alleys.
- If walking on a sidewalk near a street, always walk facing the traffic to avoid being surprised by someone in a vehicle.
- If someone is walking behind you or approaching you and you are unsure of their intent, make direct eye contact with them to let the person know that you are aware, you see them and you are not a victim.
- If you think you are being followed, abruptly switch directions or duck into a police station, fire station, hospital, business or public place and ask for help.
- In your cell phone contacts, program “ICE,” which stands for “in case of emergency,” linking it to a family member or friend…someone you trust who will call the police, firemen or other authorities if you are unable to call for yourself.
- Program 9-1-1 into your direct dial feature of your cell phone.
- Remember that talking on your cell phone or listening to headphones in public makes you easy prey.
- Change your walking routine by planning different routes and take note of “safe places” you could go should something
happen.
- NEVER park in a parking lot and then place your purse, valuables or packages into the trunk of your vehicle and proceed on in to shop. Do so prior to parking.
