Click here The 11th Annual Ruskin To-Day Brantwood Lecture “Ruskin & Turner” delivered by Professor Robert Hewison will be held at Brantwood on Saturday 6 September 2025 2.30pm Robert Hewison examines the complicated personal relationship between Ruskin and Turner, the greatest painter of 19th century Britain. Ruskin was forty-four years younger than Turner. Turner’s origins were working-class, and he did not talk about his pictures. Ruskin’s passion for Turner was certain, but as he learned more and experienced more, his view became deeper and more tragic. There are still unanswered questions about this extraordinary connection, 150 years after Turner’s death.
The talk is free to attend but booking through our website is required. The talk will be followed by a drinks reception hosted by the Friends of Ruskin's Brantwood. We do hope you will be able to join us for this fabulous event here at Brantwood. |
