Alaska Cares

People Making a Difference
By Bryan Butcher, CEO/Executive Director

The opening months of 2022 have been incredibly active in the Alaska housing market, from federal housing assistance, to homeless stabilization programs and seeking solutions to affordable housing challenges.

I would like to take a moment and thank the team at Alaska Housing Finance Corporation for wholeheartedly embracing our mission to provide Alaskans access to safe, quality, affordable housing. Across the board from public housing to weatherization, senior housing and our mortgage department, their dedication makes a difference in the lives of many Alaskans.

Two important programs that directly reflect the hard work and collaboration of the AHFC team include Alaska Housing Rent Relief, which has distributed more than $260 million in federal funds since it began in 2021, and Alaska Housing Homeowner Assistance, that entered the application review phase in April for nearly 11,000 applicants. The effective implementation of these federally funded programs are directly connected to our most important asset: Our people.

Every individual, every team, cares deeply about helping the communities we serve. I am grateful for our shared purpose and commitment to create lasting, tangible, and positive impacts for Alaskans.

Thank you to our employees and community partners for your incredible efforts.

Home Is Where the Garden Is

Sometimes it's the little things that make a space feel like a home. For Terry, a small garden at Chugach View brings back childhood memories of summer days and sweet raspberries.
