Tasting Note: This wine is 100% Corvina and made in the appassimento (dried grape) style – think of it as a baby Amarone at a quarter of the price! You’ll find fruit and spice notes with hints of cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, prunes and barrel spices from 8 months in French oak. Lively acidity keeps the fruit fresh and the wine balanced.

Terroir / Region: Veneto, Italy sports some of the country’s best-known wine styles including Valpolicella, a light, fruity, everyday wine, and Amarone, the rich, spicy wine made from dried grapes in the appassimento style. La Prua creates a balance between the two, drying a portion of the grapes in the Amarone style and keeping the freshness of Valpolicella in the rest. The grapes going into La Prua are grown in the volcanic soil on the slopes of Mt. Lessini, adding subtle complexity to the wine.
Producer: Takis Soldatos and Mario Calzolari, two Italian wine industry veterans, realized that while many wineries strive for top quality (and prices), most people who enjoy wine need staples of quality at reasonable prices, which is why they combined their skills and created Mare Magnum. Their company unites the growers and winemakers from several regions under one banner focusing on delivering quality and value to the world’s Italian wine lovers.
