Posters on the Hill


The Office of Undergraduate Research is seeking nominations for undergraduates to share their university research or scholarly experiences with lawmakers in Washington, DC for Posters on the Hill in spring 2015 (date TBD based on congressional calendar). The internal deadline for UT undergraduate nominees is Thursday, October 22. All travel costs will be provided. Students may be nominated or may self-nominate.

Posters at the Capitol


The Office of Undergraduate Research is seeking nominations and applications for seven undergraduates to share their university research or scholarly experiences with state lawmakers in Nashville on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. The deadline for UT undergraduate nominees is Friday, November 7. Students may be nominated or may self-nominate.

Tennessee Experiential Learning Symposium (TELS)


Register now to attend the Tennessee Experiential Learning Symposium on Friday, October 30!

This annual symposium showcases experiential learning outcomes from undergraduate research, study abroad, service learning, internships, and more! UT Knoxville is excited to be the first TELS host organization. The event will be held October 30, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in Knoxville, TN.

The registration deadline is Friday, October 9. The $40 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch.

UGR Seminar Series

Want to learn more about undergraduate research at UT? Maybe how to write an abstract or present a poster? Join us every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. in Hodges 212 to learn more about UGR. Bring your friends and get involved in undergraduate research! Attend 3 or more seminars and we'll enter you in a drawing for some cool UT swag!

Registration is not required, but those who register receive a reminder before the event.  List of topics and register here.

Pursuit Accepting Submissions

 

Pursuit is currently accepting research paper submissions from all disciplines for the Spring 2016 edition (Volume 7, Issue 1). The priority deadline for submissions is December 1, 2015.

EXPLORE - database of undergraduate research opps

 

EXPLORE is UT’s new database of undergraduate research opportunities. Students can use EXPLORE to search for faculty by academic department, view available on-campus research positions, and view off-campus research opportunities.

Positions are listed as paid, volunteer, or for academic credit.

New opportunities will be added throughout the year, so keep checking back!

Upcoming Travel Grant Deadlines

 

The Office of Undergraduate Research has limited funds to support students who wish to attend key conferences and events. The office will provide travel grant funding for the following events in 2015-16:

Posters on the Hill, April date TBD (Abstract submission and travel grant application are combined: October 22)  

Posters at the Capitol, February 24, 2016 (Abstract submission and travel grant application are combined: November 6)   

National Conference of Undergraduate Research, April 7-9 (Abstract Deadline: December 2)
