New Year: New, Expanded Teen Services!

February's Focus:

Health, Wellness & Exercise (Mondays & Tuesdays)
Independent Kitchen Skills (Wednesdays & Thursdays)

Kicking off THIS MONTH, our 2021 Teen Programming Series will now offer two different tracks of programming with a focus on both social interaction and building independence!

Both tracks are driven by our organization’s pillars, with future series tracks covering topics such as leisure skills, study skills, problem solving, job skills, relationships, independent living skills, and other applicable skills.

Connect: No Matter Where You Live!
Due to restrictions regarding COVID-19, we will begin these programs virtually. Once it is safe to do so, future programs will move to an in-person setting, while we also continue the virtual option for those who live at a distance or cannot attend in-person. We will host monthly (virtual) social hours that are designed to be less structured and focused on building friendships, making connections, and simply enjoying one another.

Your Support Matters: Due to the generosity of our donors, our teen programming will continue to be complimentary (no cost to families)!

Spotlight: Education and Advocacy

COVID-19 and Down Syndrome

In December, the CDC listed people with Down syndrome as being at high risk for complications if they contract COVID-19. Ever since, DSG has been on the front lines to provide information and advocate for people with Down syndrome to have priority access to COVID vaccines. We petitioned both the Governors Kansas and Missouri to follow Governor DeWine’s (OH) lead and move people with Down syndrome to a high-priority status.

Join Our "Founder's Community" Campaign and Celebrate Your Loved One!

Throughout this challenging time, our team at DSG has remained the trusted partner for the families we serve. In fact, during stay-at-home orders and social distancing, our team rose to the occasion by serving families in virtual formats through teletherapy, online chat, through email and phone calls—and so much more. We also launched new services while continuing to fundraise for our Lifelong Learning Campus—our capital project that will allow us to serve people with Down syndrome from birth though late adulthood.

Your support allows for us to provide a lifetime of support—for a life full of opportunities! When we open our brand new, Lifelong Learning Campus—we will have a Donor Recognition Wall with various opportunities to honor and celebrate your loved one with Down syndrome. We invite your family to participate in our “Founder’s Community” fundraising campaign.
