FREIGHT STUDY KICKOFF

We kicked off the Freight study with a partner planning session on June 19. The study, being carried out in conjunction with the Atlanta Regional Commission and Gwinnett County Government, will examine freight activity in the CID area. The result will be proposed solutions for freight-related mobility challenges. We'll keep you updated on opportunities for public involvement through stakeholder groups, open houses, and public meetings.

Jimmy Carter Boulevard Sidewalk - sidewalk construction was recently completed along Jimmy Carter Boulevard. The 5’ wide sidewalk is located on the south side of Jimmy Carter Boulevard between Brook Hollow Parkway and Crescent Drive. This portion of sidewalk completes a 4 mile stretch of continuous sidewalk along Jimmy Carter Boulevard providing safer access to multiple county bus stops and improving corridor connectivity.
Brook Hollow Parkway/ Best Friend Road Sidewalk - Construction of a 5’ wide sidewalk has begun and is located on the south side of Brook Hollow Parkway and Best Friend Road between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Nancy Hanks Drive. The sidewalk is 1.1 miles and includes 5 county transits stops. This portion of sidewalk will help improve corridor connectivity while making it safer for pedestrian and transit riders alike
Beaver Ruin Road Mid-Block Crossing with HAWK Signal - Construction is complete on the Beaver Ruin Road mid-block crossing with HAWK signal. Message boards indicating a traffic shift are required to be in place for 7 days prior to the opening, which is anticipated to be on July 16.
