Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sociology of Ageing/Social Gerontology 

Sociology Programme, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore: Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 13th globally and 1st amongst the world’s best young universities.

They invite applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Sociology from candidates with expertise in the sociology of ageing/social gerontology. With a new interdisciplinary graduate program in Gerontology, they are especially interested in candidates with strong quantitative research skills  and who are able to conduct research and teach in one or more of the following areas: the sociology of care, the life course (with a specific focus on the ageing and elderly), family dynamics, healthcare, and/or the impact of digital technologies on ageing populations. Candidates should possess a PhD in Sociology or a related social-science discipline at the time of appointment, demonstrable evidence of excellence in research and teaching, and a commitment to university service. The University emphasizes cutting-edge research and teaching and boasts strong support for each. The successful applicant is expected to teach in English at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Research Funding

The National Library in Canberra awards funded and non-funded short-term Fellowships for research based on their extensive collections. The Fellowship supported by the Minerals Council of Australia includes social research in its aims and its terms also include researchers who are employed professionally rather than in universities.                     Applications close on 30 April. Competition for Junior Sociologists

The International Sociological Association (ISA) has announced the organization of the Seventh Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists. The winners will be invited to participate in the XIX ISA World Congress of Sociology which will take place in Toronto, Canada in July 2018.
