IEEE-ISTO Names Two New Directors to its Governing BoardIEEE-ISTO recently announced the addition of two new directors to its Governing Board. Bob Mandeville, Founder and President of Iometrix, and Yatin Trivedi, Director of Standards and Interoperability Programs at Synopsys, were both named to serve on the IEEE-ISTO Board of Directors. Bob Mandeville founded Iometrix, the networking industry's preeminent testing authority, and has dedicated his career to providing globally recognized and trusted certification tests to the ever- expanding networking industry. Strongly committed to advancing industry standards for testing, Bob has authored test specifications for several leading standards bodies including the IETF, IEEE, MEF, MSF, IP/MPLS Forum and BBF. Yatin Trivedi is Director of Standards and Interoperability Programs for Synopsys. He represents Synopsys on the Standards Education Committee of the IEEE-SA, and on the Board of Directors of Accellera. In addition to representing Synopsys on several standards committees, Yatin manages initiatives promoting interoperability under their corporate strategic marketing group. Read on. IEEE Conformity Assessment Program Announces Formation of the IEEE 1588 Conformity AllianceThe IEEE 1588 Conformity Alliance, an IEEE Conformity Assessment Program, has been launched to advocate and certify IEEE 1588™- 2008 implementations. The IEEE 1588™-2008, the "Standard for a Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked Measurement and Control Systems," is becoming pervasive in the marketplace, ranging from applications in the telecommunications world to Smart Grid applications to manufacturing to digital audio and video broadcasting. The initial focus of the IEEE 1588 Conformity Alliance will be telecommunications applications such as mobile backhaul. A second track will focus on certifying the conformance of power applications, and the alliance is seeking participation and input in that activity from across the power industry. Founding Board Members of the IEEE 1588 Conformity Alliance include Alcatel-Lucent, Anue Systems, Brilliant Telecommunications, Calnex Solutions, Huawei Technologies, Iometrix, and Symmetricom.
