Tower

This striking, 23-storey building in Leeds, England is made from Cor-ten steel, a material that turns rusty-orange as it weathers. The architects say that the work of sculptors Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, who both attended art school in Leeds, influenced their design concepts. In 2010, the Broadcast Tower at Leeds Beckett University was selected by The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat as one of the four best towers erected in Europe.

M Magazine

The theme for the Spring 2019 issue of M Magazine for the University of Toronto Mississauga, is stress. UTM researchers have been investigating why we are all under more and more pressure, and what can be done about it. A major focus of their work examines the impact of stress on children, adolescents and refugees. The complex theme is brought to life by artist Jeannie Phan, whose illustrations find a nice balance between urgency and calm.

Website

H&W worked with the University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation (UTAM) to design and build a new WordPress site to effectively communicate UTAM's mandate, approach and performance data. We began by holding stakeholder meetings with staff and Board members to get their perspectives on what the UTAM website should deliver to various audiences, including U of T administration, students and pensioners. From there, we developed the information architecture and wireframes on which we based our designs. The result is an engaging experience which complements rich information about UTAM with animated infographics and subtle page transitions.

Friends of Canadian Broadcasting
We Choose Campaign

Friends of Canadian Broadcasting (FOCB) has the mandate to protect Canada’s rich culture and identity within our broadcasting systems. H&W has proudly been their brand partner for over 20 years. FOCB strives to remind all political parties of the importance of the CBC as a conduit for our national voice, especially during an election period. Our recent collaboration with FOCB resulted in the creation of their current "We Choose" campaign. The design mimics the Canadian flag and allows FOCB to change their tagline between "We Choose Canada" and "We Choose CBC." T-shirts, printed literature, digital assets and even candidate-style lawn signs, helped launch the campaign across the country.
