Wrapping Our Arm Around More Babies!

The Baby Fold is reaching more babies than ever before! Laura Beavers, head of our proven abuse prevention program Healthy Start, is thrilled with the program's expansion into Champaign County, “When we can walk beside young mothers as they prepare for the birth of their babies and at those precious first weeks, we get the best results. We stay with the family for up to five years if needed, so they're truly self-sufficient."

Squealing with delight, Little Sarah, a Healthy Start toddler, watches her caseworker Amy pulling into the driveway. She knows Amy is bringing a new book to read! Baby Fold staff fill each home visit with activities that bond and therapies that guide families in positive directions. Mom Callie says, “Having Amy work with us has made such a difference in my life and in the life of my baby girl. I'm learning what a real family looks like, and I’m so proud of the progress we have made. My child is safe and happy, and that means everything to me!"

A Splash of Camp Fun for Everyone!

“Look out! Here I come!” warns Eddie as he dives head first down a slip-n-side. Sprinkles and splashes came from every direction as Hammitt School students enjoyed their week at Summer Camp. Not surprisingly, the kids proclaim that water activities are their favorite part of camp. Even Becky, who has sensory needs, learned to like the beach. On the first day, she'd only sit on a bench, gently pushing her toes into the sand and watching the other kids play in the lake. Later, she ventured to the water’s edge, sat down, and made designs in the sand. By the end of the week, Becky was walking hand-in-hand with her teacher along the beach, letting the water tickle her toes. Camp is therapeutic for our students; being in nature, surrounded by friends and expert Baby Fold staff helps our students to grow and challenge themselves. The Old is New Again

Originally a school for the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors home, 612 Oglesby Avenue was purchased by The Baby Fold in the 1990's to use for office space. To meet a growing community need for specialized education, we renovated and repurposed the building for our new Hammitt Junior-Senior High School location.

CEO Dianne Schultz is excited for the 2018-2019 school year, “So our students can prepare for life in every way and each student can become the best version of themselves, The Baby Fold offers the very latest treatment practices through our gifted educators. It’s going to be a great year!" Click HERE to take a peek of our new school location!

Unique Camp Experiences for our Autism Students

Camping fun for everyone! Several of our students having Autism enjoyed a week of summer camp experiences designed to meet their unique needs. Scavenger hunts, water play, and crafting binoculars and picture frames were just a few of their stimulating and calming activities. They even made "bear toast"!
