Puffin Pass Update

April 7, 2010

Ride the Rails in 2010

Hello again, Puffin Pass friends! Last week we mentioned that we've been working with the Alaska Railroad to put together some exciting getaways for you. We've got the details worked out, and we think you're going to like them.

In conjunction with the Alaska Railroad, CIRI Alaska Tourism invites you to leave the car behind this summer and let us take you places you can only see by boat and rail. These packages are good for the entire 2010 season, but must be booked by June 30, so start planning an escape now!

Rail and Cruise Day Trips to Kenai Fjords

Are you looking for a day trip? Climb aboard the Alaska Railroad in Anchorage and enjoy breathtaking views of the countryside en route to Seward. Once there, set sail with Kenai Fjords Tours for either the 6-hour Kenai Fjords National Park Tour or the 4 1/2 hour Resurrection Bay Tour (which includes a stop at Fox Island, for an all-you-can-eat salmon and prime rib lunch).  After a day filled with marine wildlife and glaciers, the Alaska Railroad will whisk you back to Anchorage that evening. You'll be amazed at the adventures you can have in a single day!

Want to get an early start on the weekend? Thursdays in 2010, we're offering a special package that combines round trip rail from Anchorage with a night at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Take in the unrivaled views of Denali from the Lodge's deck while savoring Executive Chef Matt Zimny's exquisite Alaska cuisine and the selections from our award-winning wine cellar. The town of Talkeetna will charm you, and between flightseeing, jetboating, ATVing or a lazy float trip down the Big Su, there's a lot to command your interest.

You've got until June 30th to book, so start thinking about taking a Talkeeta Thursday this summer! Questions? Call us at 1-877-777-4067.

Whales: the Migration is on!

Just $99 pp/do
As we mentioned last week, the annual California Gray Whale migration is just getting underway, and from April 9 - May 21 Kenai Fjords Tours is offering the Spring Gray Whale Watch package. It combines a 4-hour Resurrection Bay whale-watching cruise with a night at the Hotel Seward for just $99 per person, double occupancy*. Also included: admission to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This is an unbeatable opportunity to see these mighty marine mammals—as well as bear, eagle, bison, and more at the A.W.C.C.—and enjoy a leisurely time in Seward. At this price, it won't be around for long.

Extra-Special Whale Watch Tours
On May 13th and 14th only, the Gray Whale Watch will be an extended five hour cruise, which includes a trip to a tidewater glacier. Lunch is Alaska King Crab cakes, wild rice pilaf with steamed vegetables, dinner roll and a cookie. There's no additional charge for this cruise, either individually or as part of the overnight package, but seating is limited.

Check out the Spring Gray Whale Watch package, or call us at 1-877-777-4067, and book your spots now before they're all gone!

* Taxes and fees not included. Restrictions, terms and conditions apply.

Kids are still Cruising Free in Prince William Sound

Remember, for every adult ticket that you book on the Prince William Sound Wilderness Explorer Cruise before April 30, a child in your party cruises free. That's a pretty swell deal on family fun, if we do say so ourselves.

Did we mention that a Wild Alaska crabcake lunch is included? See the specials page for complete details, or call us at 1-877-777-4054, but hurry!
