IFAM: Tell your export story

The International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) team is celebrating the successes and supporting adaptation initiatives undertaken by Australian exporters over the last year.

As part of the IFAM State-by-State Industry Briefings series, businesses are being given the opportunity to share their ideas. Trialled something new?  Have an idea but need support to test it out?  Tell IFAM and other exporters about it.

Collaboration will be key to Australia’s successful transition to the new trading environment.  Great stories are being told of how competitors are putting differences aside and working together.

Exporters with a good news story to share, feedback to provide, or a new initiative they want to trial, please email airfreight@austrade.gov.au, or tag your social posts @austradeofficial #AusBiz #IFAM.

The latest IFAM outbound and inbound flights are available on the IFAM website. Exporters should speak to their freight forwarder and visit the IFAM website for further assistance.  For more information, please email Austrade State Director WA, Jane Caforio, at jane.caforio@austrade.gov.au, or DPIRD's International Airfreight Coordinator, Terry Burnage, at terry.burnage@dpird.wa.gov.au Source:  IFAM / DPIRD  |  Photo:  Austrade

Sally Janssen – 25 years of service to WA

DPIRD congratulates Sally Janssen as she celebrates 25 years of public service with the Western Australian Government’s Trade and Investment Office in London.

Sally has made a significant contribution to the State as Personal Assistant to the WA Agent General, using her platform to cultivate important intergovernmental relationships with trade offices and promote WA across the United Kingdom (UK), Europe and Israel.

She has greatly assisted the State’s agribusiness, food and trade sectors by enthusiastically promoting WA’s premium goods and produce.  Past efforts have gone toward the promotion of WA wine and Western Rock Lobster to the UK and the EU.  Sally is well-known in London’s wine connoisseur circles for organising the successful annual WA Wine Tasting event, where over a hundred different premium drops from the State's nine fine wine regions are up for tasting.

With the forthcoming Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) – as well as the Australia-European Union FTA, which is still being negotiated – Sally and the London office will be well-placed to assist WA agrifood exporters as they seek to diversify markets, and take advantage of these two new trade agreements.

Over the years, Sally has strongly supported WA businesses seeking to trade with the UK and Europe, and organised numerous visit programs for many of the State’s public servants, including ministers, opposition members, and staff from many different departments, including DPIRD’s trade and investment officers.

Congratulations, Sally, and thank you for all your support!

The WA Government’s Trade and Investment Office in London welcomes trade enquiries from WA exporters, so please feel free to make contact via agent_general@wago.co.uk.  For general enquiries, please contact the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation's Invest and Trade Western Australia team at investandtrade@jtsi.wa.gov.au, or the DPIRD team at export@dpird.wa.gov.au.  Source:  WAGO / JTSI / DPIRD  |  Photo: WAGO [L-R: Sally Janssen; Oz Clarke OBE, British wine writer; John Atkins, former WA Agent General.]

Austrade: ASEAN acceleration of e-commerce continues

A survey by Facebook and Bain & Company reveals that consumers in Southeast Asia bought groceries online almost three times more often this year as compared to 2019, Austrade reports in its latest Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region update for Australian exporters.

In Indonesia there is increased interest from Indonesian importers in new food products from Australia. This includes beef products, and mid-range and premium-range packaged food and beverage products.

Indonesian supermarkets have observed consumers’ increasing awareness of the risks of high cholesterol and diabetes, and a concurrent rise in interest in healthier foodstuffs. The latter group includes dairy, ‘healthy’ packaged food, and fresh fruit and vegetables.  More...  Source:  Austrade  |  Photo:  Eko Herwantoro / Unsplash
