Alumni Career Tip | Career Networking Through the Holidays

As we transition into cooler weather, seasonal gatherings can serve up more than just your Aunt's pumpkin pie. Take advantage of upcoming seasonal festivities as potential events to network. Be prepared to share your current employment status, a brief explanation of what you do in your current role and your goals for the New Year. Sharing is great practice for future interviews and deepens relationships with connections that may lead to new ways that benefit your career. Always ask for a referral and thank them for listening. Follow up by scheduling a coffee date or lunch, but if scheduling is a challenge, reach out by email. Focus on being a resource for your network, and they will, in turn, want to be a resource for you.
