Mezzacorona Novello 2017

Mezzacorona Novello 2017

In case you need a reason to enjoy a bottle of wine on a Thursday, today is the official worldwide launch of the 2017 “Nouveau Wines”.  The tradition started over a century ago in Beaujolais, France as winery owners shared wine with workers in the fields as a reward for a completed harvest and job well done.  Why not suggest to your boss that you should be rewarded for a job well done with one of the best Nouveau wines being released today in the LCBO: Mezzacorona Novello from Italy.

Tasting Notes:  Mezzacorona Novello is a ruby red colour with purple reflections. On the nose is an intense aroma of wild berries, cocoa and plum. The palate is dry, fruity and soft with flavours of sweet cherries, ripe currants and berries finishing with notes of bitter chocolate.

Enjoy With:  Light and flavourful dishes like grilled and cured meats.

Style:  Medium bodied, fruity wine.

Terroir/Region:  This Novello is made from Teroldego grapes that are grown exclusively on the Rotaliana Plain of Trentino, Italy. This plain is the natural habitat of Teroldego and as such, it’s the perfect climatic region to express the flavour of the wine. The soil is composed of multiple layers of gravel and alluvial stone that create the fertile environment for Teroldego. The massive mountains surrounding the plain protect the vineyards and retain the warmth needed for growth.

Producer:  Mezzacorona is one of the world’s most technologically advanced wineries and also has some of the industry’s best winemakers. It is constantly producing wines with strong ratings and is renowned for its consistent quality vintage after vintage. Mezzacorona creates the perfect partnership between terroir and varietals to create the highest quality wines.
