Dear friends and followers,
TYPO Berlin »Trigger« is not only about the main stage at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) – the massive auditorium where the crème de la crème of the international design scene presents its visions and ideas. It's also about 1,600 creatives gathering between Mai 17–19 each year from around the globe, networking, sharing hands-on knowledge, experimenting and taking action to create moments that trigger new ideas.
So, while we are busy working on the final schedule for all of our stages, established and new program sections, we already have a continuously growing list of workshops to look forward to. A lot of work … but the fun kind!

Brush Lettering for those who are not only interested in alphabets, but are interested in the actual structure of letters. In this introductory workshop we will break down a brush script lettering style into a few basic strokes and reassemble letters out of them. Since all letters will be based on these few forms, the resulting alphabet almost automatically has a harmonious rhythm and look. Once the basics are covered, we're ready for free improvisation!
Chris Campe's design office All Things Letters specialises in type and creates everything with letters - books, covers, logos, illustrations, spaces and display windows. More info about Chris Campe here …

Unlike when spotting Chinese letters, the reaction of the observer looking at Arabic Type is emotionalised today. Our Goal in this workshop is to decrease those negative connotations practically by learning and understanding principles of Arabic type and creating graphics with it in an experimental way, ultimately adding curiosity, aesthetics, joy and intercultural friendship to its shattered image in society.
