CSJ Roadshows
The Centre for Social Justice is coming to a city near you

The CSJ is visiting several cities in the coming weeks in order to encourage voluntary sector organisations across the UK in their mission to transform Britain's broken society.

The events will provide an update on the nature of poverty and social breakdown in the UK today, an opportunity to hear from key CSJ Alliance partners tackling the root causes of poverty, and time for frontline poverty fighting organisations to build relationships with others transforming their city and communities.

The first event is in Bristol, 4 March 2010, 12 noon registration, 12.30pm - 2pm

The CSJ has launched a social networking site for frontline poverty fighters and supporters of the CSJ. www.povertydebate.com provides a daily round up of poverty news, the latest work from the CSJ, and opportunity to meet with others putting social justice at the heart of British politics and reversing social breakdown across the UK. THE CENTRE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE GREEN PAPER ON THE FAMILY
The CSJ launched its Green Paper on the Family on 20 January 2010. The Green Paper sets out clearly the CSJ family policy recommendations and the link between family breakdown and social breakdown. The Green Paper is available to download from www.centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/publications

 

CSJ LAUNCH SIX NEW POLICY AREAS
The CSJ launched six new policy areas on 8 February 2010 in its mission to put social justice at the heart of politics. Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP (CSJ Chairman) hosted the event and introduced the Chairmen of each new Working Group: Community Cohesion, Elder Care, Mental Health, Social Return on Investment, Sport and Youth Justice Working Groups were launched. LATEST CSJ ALLIANCE MEMBER, BAC O'CONNOR
Addiction treatment and rehabilitation centre BAC O'Connor have joined the CSJ Alliance. The Burton upon Trent charity have joined the informal network of 200 effective voluntary sector groups that keep the CSJ up to date with the most innovative approaches to poverty fighting. CEO Noreen Oliver MBE (pictured) showed Iain Duncan Smith MP and the CSJ Alliance team around their exemplary project that restores men and women to a life free of substance addiction.  www.bacandoconnor.co.uk 

 

PHILIPPA STROUD SPEAKS AT RESTORATIVE JUSTICE CONFERENCE
Philippa Stroud, CSJ Executive Director, joined Alan Duncan MP, Shadow Minister for Prisons, and others at the "Restorative Justice and the Law Conference" held by the Restorative Justice Consortium on 4 February 2010. The event considered how legislation could be reformed to enable much greater access to restorative justice for victims of adult offenders. www.restorativejustice.org.uk
