With appreciation, Bryan AHFC Recognized for Combating Human TraffickingIn October, Alaska Housing was recognized at the National Council of State Housing Authorities Annual Conference for its work to combat human trafficking. AHFC's Planning Department received an award for Program Excellence in the category of Special Needs Housing for the entry Untaken. The entry details the SAFE-T (Survivors Assistance for Escaping Trafficking) Program, created by AHFC to bring survivors of trafficking home safely. Partnering to Bring Funding Opportunities to AlaskaAHFC's Research and Rural Development Staff are working to harness federal funding opportunities to make a difference for Alaskans. Federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act presents opportunities for Alaska, including a $100 million Solar For All application. Alaska Housing is working collaboratively on the application with partners at Alaska Energy Authority. Understanding How ‘Homeownership Changes Lives’Two decades ago, Cathy Johnson had gone through bankruptcy and was a recently divorced single mother with two kids. She had little expectation of buying her own home, but with help from a loan officer Cathy purchased a condo and even found a new career path. Now a Senior Loan Officer for Movement Mortgage in Juneau, Cathy works to provide other Alaskans with the same opportunities she received.
