Terroir/Region: The Loire Valley of France is known for many things, wine included. The Romans first settled many of the cities we know today. The Loire is called ‘The Garden of France’ for the vineyards and orchards that line the riverbanks, and it was in Orleans, not far from the birthplace of this week’s wine, that Joan of Arc defeated the English. Loire wines are all about the diversity made possible by its microclimates. Whether it’s red, white, dry, sweet, still or sparkling, the Loire can offer something for every wine lover.
Producer: The Raimbault property lies in the heart of the Vouvray region of the Loire Valley in northern France surrounded by prestigious castles displaying the history of the valley. Vincent Raimbault has paid close attention to the region’s winemaking traditions since taking over from his father in 1980, pouring his passion for the classic style of Vouvray into every bottle he makes. His son Julien joined him in 2009, the 5th generation to join the family business and carry on its traditions.
