Wine of the Weekend
Dunavar Pinot Grigio 2015, Felső-Magyarország, Hungary

This weekend, during your hunt for the perfect, easy drinking, affordable ‘house-white’, take a tour of the Eastern European / Hungarian section at the LCBO and look for a bottle of this Hungarian Pinot Grigio. You’ll get an internationally styled white wine that delivers fantastic value for the money. All you need to decide is whether or not you will share this little treasure with your friends!

Tasting Note: This fresh and charming Pinot Grigio shows bright apple and melon on the nose with hints of fruit-blossom and flint. Bright fruit, citrus and cashew flavours all come together on a medium-weight palate that is perfectly balanced and smooth. This flavourful wine finishes off-dry and clean with hints of mineral spice and apple. Serve well chilled.
Enjoy With:  Chicken Caesar salad, fish or seafood, cream-based pasta dishes and even spicy Tex-Mex dishes.
Style:  Dry and fruity white wine.
Terroir / Region: The large growing region of Felső-Magyarország in Northern Hungary is one of the country’s most historic and important wine growing areas. The region lies at about the same latitude as northern Burgundy and the Loire Valley in France and specializes in growing white native and imported grapes like Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.
Producer: Dunavar is produced by Count Karolyi Private Cellars, a family-owned winery founded in 1990 which is one of Hungary’s most modern winemaking facilities. The winery’s goal is to make wines that are innovative and of the highest quality that will represent Hungary in the international export market.
Availability:  Dunavar Pinot Grigio 2015 is available year round in the Hungarian or Eastern European section at the LCBO.
