Please note that all nominees & applicants need to be TASA members. AwardsTASA Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching in Australian SociologyNomination deadline: June 15 This award, first offered in 2015, celebrates outstanding contributions to enhancing the pedagogy, practice or outcomes of teaching and learning sociology in Australia. It recognises contributions at the disciplinary level (rather than acknowledging excellence in teaching within the classroom or institutions). Sociology in Action AwardNomination deadline: June 15 This award recognizes contributions to the practice of sociology outside of academic settings. It is conferred on a TASA member who has made an outstanding contribution to sociological practice in Australia. In this context, outstanding contributions to sociology in action highlight the value and impact of sociological methods and theories to society. Early Career Researcher – Best Paper PrizeNomination deadline: June 30 The TASA Prize for the most distinguished peer-reviewed article published by an Early Career Researcher is an annual process that uses academic peer review to select a paper of outstanding quality published in any journal during the previous three calendar years (ie the 2017 Award will assess papers that were published from 2014 – 2016). The Prize was established in 2016 to provide more opportunities for early career sociologists to gain recognition for the quality of their scholarship and enhance their reputations, especially within interdisciplinary teams. ScholarshipsPlease note: to be eligible to apply for one of the 2017 conference scholarships listed below, your abstract/paper needs to be submitted by June 15. Postgraduate Conference ScholarshipsApplication deadline: September 11 The TASA Postgraduate Conference Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 with funds donated by the former Australian Association of Social Research Inc. (AASR). The scholarships aim to support postgraduate participation at TASA annual conferences.The TASA Executive encourages postgraduate members to apply. It also encourages academic supervisors to promote the scholarships to their postgraduate students. Conference Scholarship for TASA Members with DisabilitiesApplication deadline: September 11 This scholarship is an acknowledgement that members with disabilities incur additional costs when attending TASA Conferences. The aim of the scholarship is to help defray these additional costs and promote participation by members with disabilities in TASA Conferences. TASA Conference Scholarship for Sociology in ActionApplication deadline: September 11 his scholarship seeks to encourage the participation of sociologists working outside academe (in areas such as private industry, government and non-government organisations, and private contract and consultancy work) with The Australian Sociological Association (TASA). The TASA Executive would like to encourage non-academic members who have conducted applied research or written sociological papers on their work to apply for the scholarship. The Jerzy Zubrzycki Postgraduate Conference ScholarshipApplication deadline: September 11 An annual prize awarded as one of the TASA Postgraduate Conference Scholarships for the best paper in the research areas of migration or cultural pluralism, or with the potential for contribution to public policy. Please note: to be eligible to apply for one of the 2017 conference scholarships listed above, your abstract/paper needs to be submitted by June 15. |
