First of all I would like to announce that our blog, 'On the Drawing Board', has a slightly new look, but more important when you click the links below you will be better able to enjoy the photos on smart phones, ipads etc. Even old dogs can be convinced that change is good.
Every free moment we have, we are in the back yard playing bocce ball or watching the game from the porch. In honor of the warm weather, I updated Alfresco Dining with more photos.

When we begin to design a home, we generally have an idea of what the exterior material will be. Often we will try alternate materials either to change the aesthetics, to adjust the budget, or simply at the request of our clients. Many of our projects combine two or more materials.
With summer in full swing, my family and I take every opportunity we can to eat outside on our porch or on a patio off the kitchen. Somehow with the flowers blooming and the birds singing, alfresco dining feels to me, less like an average meal, and more like a celebration.
Our little micro farm in the back yard is doing fine. Two new members of the sheep herd are Amy and Pearl. They are Romneys, a sheep known for their fine wool. They originally came from a lush, wind swept region of southeastern England evolving from medieval long wool breeds. In the early 1800s the breed was recognized as Romney Marsh sheep. (my 4H’ers have taught me everything I know) Anyway they are cute and have a great personality.
