To assist industry transition to towing business authorisations, application and authorisation fees will be waived for the first year. Applications for authorisations will open from 1 July 2026, with the requirement to have an approved authorisation in place progressively rolled out across the State from 1 September 2026. From 1 July 2026, consumer price index (CPI) adjustments for the past two years will be incorporated into maximum charges for crashed vehicle and motorcycle towing and storage. To support industry sustainability and more accurately reflecting the cost of providing towing services. The maximum charge for towing a light vehicle from a crash scene in Perth and Peel will increase from $485 to $523. Per kilometre rates after 50 kilometres will rise from $4.40 to $4.75, while the maximum out of business hours charge will increase from $138 to $149. Daily maximum storage maximum charges will increase from $25 to $27 for light vehicles and from $12.50 to $13.50 for motorcycles. The maximum administration charge that can be applied by a crash towing operator will rise from $88 to $95.
