Click here World Conference on Lung Cancer Wrap-UpThe World Conference on Lung Cancer was held in September 2018 and was the largest World Lung ever convened, showcasing a number of practice-changing scientific presentations. Many presentations included new science and treatments for NSCLC, such as those with ALK, EGFR, and HER2 mutations or stage III lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer also had an exciting update, with the first new treatment in thirty years – the addition of an immunotherapy drug to the standard of care, chemotherapy. Collaboration in research is more important than ever. Lung cancer is a complex disease that requires multiple stakeholders to come up with solutions. The biggest impact of collaboration was highlighted by the participation of oncogene-driven patient groups, such as the ROS1ders, EGFResisters, and ALK Positive. November is Lung Cancer Awareness MonthLung Cancer Awareness Month is a time to educate the public about the disease and share stories of lung cancer patients, survivors, and their families. LUNGevity is spreading the word and YOU can make a difference. Read LUNGevity online blogs. Sign up for our newsletters, then share them with your network. Volunteer for or attend a Breathe Deep event near you. Distribute LUNGevity materials to your local hospital or clinic. Check out our website for updates and important information for patients and caregivers. New this year is LUNGevity’s LungCam. Let your point of view be known with a Facebook video using the new LungCam filter. It’s easy to do and we’re asking new questions on key issues every week! It’s a great way to personalize your message. These videos can then be shared across social media to engage the larger community and raise awareness. LUNGevity has lots of opportunities to get involved – find one that works for you! Inhale for Life: New Biomarker VideoLUNGevity is launching a new social media and PSA campaign, Inhale for Life: Biomarker Testing, to encourage people diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to ask their doctor about biomarker testing at time of diagnosis or recurrence. As a follow-up to our successful #InhaleForLife campaign, we will share five stories of survivors who have benefited from this testing – they epitomize the hope of new treatments for lung cancer patients. This campaign is part of LUNGevity’s broader efforts, including Take Aim, in accelerating precision medicine in lung cancer. Look for our videos on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter starting October 22 in anticipation of Lung Cancer Awareness Month in November. Please share with your network and help us raise the rate of biomarker testing for patients with NSCLC. Introducing International Lung Cancer Survivorship ConferenceBuilding on the success of the annual National HOPE Summit, LUNGevity is expanding its keystone survivorship summit to a full-blown conference – the International Lung Cancer Survivorship Conference (ILCSC) in 2019. ILCSC will be composed of three simultaneous summits: the HOPE Summit for patients, the COPE Summit for caregivers, and the Survivorship Summit for advocates and survivors who are interested in more advanced topics. The three Summits enable attendees to pick and choose from sessions at any of the three simultaneous summits based on their specific needs and lung cancer knowledge base. Like the HOPE Summit, ILCSC will be a highly supportive conference in which attendees hear from experts on the latest in lung cancer research and clinical practice, learn from and empower each other, and develop a new support network, having forged connections with peers from across the globe who have been affected by a lung cancer diagnosis. We hope you will join us in Washington, DC, April 26-28, 2019, for this life-changing event. Resource HighlightLung Cancer HELPLineAre you looking for useful lung cancer resources?
