Carla has been working as the Marketing & Events Manager with the YACWA team and will also now be working on our project MYAN WA as the Project Officer. We are very pleased and confident of the work Carla will contribute as part of the MYAN WA team.

Photography Mentorship

Applications for Home is Where My Hearth Is photography mentorship are now open! 

The mentorship program is aimed at supporting young people to share their stories and experiences to raise awareness of youth homelessness through photography.

Royal Commission Forums 

The Royal Commission into Institute Responses to Child Sexual Abuse will be hosting a series of forums aimed at informing CALD communities about the work of the commission. 

The forums is an opportunity to learn more about the commission's work on Child Sexual Abuse, how to better protect children and also for participants to share ideas.

Centrecare's  Migration Advice 

Centrecare Migrant Services are now open to give advice services to everyone on Australian visas and immigration laws by Migration Agents.

Half hour appointments are offered every Monday night between 5:30pm- 7:00 pm.

Global Refugee Youth Consultations in Australia

The MYAN (Australia) and the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) are coordinating a national conversation with young people from refugee backgrounds as part of a series of consultations taking place around the world in 2015/ 2016.

Edith Cowan University (ECU) has opened the applications for the first Humanitarian Scholarship at ECU.

The purpose of the Humanitarian scholarship is to assist undergraduate students who are either first generation descendants of a refugee or are refugees themselves. Applicants must be currently enrolled or intending to enrol in semester one, 2016 in an undergraduate bachelor degree course at Edith Cowan University.

The application deadline has just been extended to Friday 8th April.

MYAN resource provides national snapshot of newly arrived young people

The MYAN Australia has recently released the Refugee and Migrant Youth Arrivals Information Sheet 2014/15. This resource provides a detailed overview of the young people arriving in Australia through the Migration Programme, including where they are settling on arrival and comparisons with groups arriving during the previous five years.
