Tasting Notes: Gorgeous pale gold in colour, this charming South African Chenin Blanc is an absolute joy to drink.  You’ll find alluring aromas and flavours of ripe stone fruit, brioche and marmalade with hints of honey and spice. This zippy white has excellent flavour intensity and finishes on a fresh, citrus-lime note.  It’s great value for the money.

Enjoy With: Turkey burgers, grilled pork chops, sausages, spicy Asian dishes or seafood.

Style: Full-bodied and rich white wine.

Terroir/Region: South Africa’s wine appellation system, Wine of Origin, divides the country into several different regions, districts and wards. The Paarl region has a Mediterranean climate with long, warm summers that are perfect for ripening grape varieties like Chenin Blanc and Shiraz. Shale and granite soil imparts a fresh mineral character to Chenin Blanc.

Producer: Bellingham’s roots date back to 1693, when the first vines were planted on the property. Today, viticulturist Stephan Joubert and winemaker Niël Groenewald work tirelessly together to select the finest grapes from premium sites across the Cape Winelands. The winery produces a range of terroir-reflective wines that excel in terms of stature and quality.

Availability: Bellingham The Old Orchard Chenin Blanc 2015 will be available through Vintages officially on Saturday, but check stores now as some locations have released the wine early.
