Intervals turns seven

Intervals Turns Seven

Seven years ago we branched out from our web design and development roots and released Intervals, our online time, task and project management software. Our holistic approach to project management resonated with agencies throughout the world. And we grew from there.

Intervals is now being used by creative agencies, web developers, and marketing agencies in over 100 countries. Agencies who track time, tackle tasks, and manage projects, all with one online app.

View a person’s recent activity from their profile page

View a person’s recent activity from their profile page

We recently introduced an activity feed to each project that allows you to see what’s been going on recently with a project. We’ve now extended this feature over to people’s profile pages. See what’s been going on recently with any member of your team.

To see this feature in action, click through to any person’s profile and notice the new Recent Activity box in the left column. Here you will see a few recent entries. To see more, click on the “View all activity’ link.

Redesigned timers

In light of some more subtle design changes we’ve been making to buttons throughout the interface, we decided to revisit the timer buttons. We’ve redesigned the timer buttons to be easier to click, take up less space, and provide a more intuitive time tracking experience.

A new calendar for selecting dates

A new calendar for selecting dates

There is a new calendar for selecting dates on the home calendar, list views, reports, and other areas scattered throughout the interface. Click on the calendar icon to select a date and you will immediately notice a cleaner, more intuitive, redesigned calendar.

Use the arrows to move the calendar from month to month, or click on the month name to jump to forward or backward a few months.

Updated web text editor, along with a new look

Updated web text editor, along with a new look

Intervals uses CKEditor, a longstanding favorite in the open source community, for editing blocks of web text on tasks, milestones, and projects. We’ve upgraded Intervals to reflect recent changes and improvements from the CKEditor community. These updates include better HTML formatting in all web browsers, better support for pasting content from Word, and a new monochromatic look to enhance the user experience.

Updated graphing engine for charts and graphs

Updated graphing engine for charts and graphs

Intervals uses Highcharts to build interactive web charts and graphs for flexible and granular reporting. The reports will look slightly different due to subtle design enhancements. But more importantly, under-the-hood optimizations will help reports render faster across more browsers and devices. If you aren’t familiar with reports already, click on the Reports tab in your Intervals account and crunch some data. These reports provide quick and meaningful information useful for managing your time, tasks, and projects.

Collision detection when updating milestones

Collision detection when updating milestones

Design, development, and creative teams are more distributed than ever. When you are updating a milestone at the same time as your East coast counterpart, it’s nice to know the two of you won’t overwrite each other. We’ve ported over the collision detection functionality from tasks to milestones. If you try to update a milestone while someone else is updating it, Intervals will give you fair warning.

“You have no idea how efficient Intervals has made our small ad agency! We get the work done of double the staff. We love Intervals!

In addition to the updates mentioned above, we’ve also completed a round of bug fixes and optimizations to help Intervals run faster. And we’ve overhauled some of the underlying code in the application to prepare for some new features coming up on our road map.

Whenever we release a significant update we will post a notification directly within your Intervals account. Thank you again for using Intervals for your task, time and project management needs. If you have any feedback, comments, or great ideas you’d like to share, drop us an email at support@myintervals.com.
