ASEE College Profiles, Research Expenditures and Salary Survey

Dear Colleagues,

This a quick reminder that the ASEE college profiles survey submission deadline is January 31, 2020. I have included resources at the end of this email including the announcement of the survey open and how to join our mailing list. If you need an extention, please email data@asee.org with a request and when you would need to submit.

We have been having difficulty (along with several other non-profit associations) getting caught in smart email systems that auto-unsubscribe individuals from mailing list. We are exploring potential ways around this. We are placing our emails online at this page and plan to do so going forward: https://ira.asee.org/communications/

Our Faculty Salary Survey has opened January 2nd, 2020 and closes April 15, 2020. The survey platform (https://salarysurvey.asee.org ), login and registration procedures have not changed. One small modification to the instructions is that we are collecting salary data as of November 1, 2019.   We plan on working to integrate the salary survey into our new platform during the Summer and Fall of 2020 in time for the 2021 cycle.

Please email data@asee.org with any questions you have.

We are exchanging research expenditure data with US News for doctoral engineering program starting January 23 for those who have already submitted this portion of the survey. This process involves comparing data reported between ASEE and US News and asking institutions to provide an explanation of discrepancy (even with small discrepancies such as 10$) between the values reported to both.  Last year we reached out to over 50 institutions with questions and all responded. Many explained what was causing the difference and several institutions updated their reported amounts.   If you have specific questions about this, please contact me directly at j.roy@asee.org.

My team has been creating several tools and reports from the college profiles data that we will be sharing with you in the coming months.

At the beginning of February, we will share directly with institutions a diversity benchmarking report that we have created from your submitted data from 2016-18 College Profiles that compares an institutions against several comparator groups.

With support through the Engineering Deans Gender Equity Inititiative, a NSF funded project, we have also  created an interactive dashboard with Profiles data from 2001-2018 and the distribution of women in tenure/tenured-track faculty ranks: https://shinyapps.asee.org/apps/EDGE/

Take care,
Joe
