The 2015-16 school year is well underway! Hello Parents and Families,

We are thrilled to begin another year at Jessup here in Student Life. From welcoming a new class of students into the residence halls to kicking off new programming and activities for commuters, it's a time of growth in the options students have to connect, grow and serve at Jessup.

We want you to know about some of the resources available to your students while they're a part of the Jessup community. For updates on what is happening on campus, follow @jessuplife on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. You may also sign up for text updates by texting PARENT to 51400. Finally, downloading the Jessup Life app on your phone is a great way to see what's happening in chapel and campus events.

As a parent, you may hear about the challenges students face early on. We have a strong system of student care and support for when your student needs additional support. Please know that our Residence Directors and Resident Advisors are there to support and refer students in each living area, and Dave Heitman, our Director of Residence Life and Student Care, is available for every student, whether they are commuter or residential. We have an excellent partnership with a local faith-based counseling center where every student has access to short-term counseling services for just $10 per session.

If you have a concern for a student, you can always contact Dave in our office, or fill out our student care reporting form.

A Finals Survival Kit is a great way to show your student love and support from home during the week before their final exams. All nighters and constant studying can be exhausting. This small gesture of support and encouragement from home could be just what your student needs to make it through the last couple weeks of the 2015 Fall Semester.

We are looking for parents who are interested in partnering with the University to further support the success of their students and the development of the Parent Relations Department. There are two ways you can get involved.

(1) Parent Prayer Network: Remotely join with other parents to pray for our students, the campus and our community. Each month you will receive an email with a theme for the month and a list of prayer requests that have been submitted by fellow parents. 

(2) Parent Committee: Looking to get involved on campus? Our Parent Committee meets every other month to plan events and discuss the needs of students.

During the month of September the Office of Career and Life Planning will be highlighting financial literacy. One of the ways that they will be doing this is through a FREE Money Management Event which will be held on campus Wednesday, September 23rd from 4:30-6pm. This free event will feature food, games, and prizes. Every student who attends will receive a complimentary copy of Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance-College Edition. Your student can register for this event by clicking HERE.

In addition, students will be encouraged to sign up for CashCourse. This FREE money management website can assist students in creating a personal budget, gives tips on saving money in college, and much more. Student ambassadors will be located in front of Crossroads Café on October 6th and 7th from 11:30-1:00pm to help students sign up.

Please encourage your student to take advantage of both of these resources!

On Sunday, October 4, 2015 William Jessup University will be hosting its annual Jessup Gala! This year in honor of our theme "A Heart For The City", the event will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Sacramento, California.
