Dear Friends and Colleagues, Welcome to the October Newsletter from AEC, which is as usual filled with information and updates relevant to the membership. We look forward to our annual Congress hosted by the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague next month. It is an important moment for our community to meet and renew (or begin) friendships and network. At this turbulent geo-political time, I know that such bonds are ever more valuable and necessary. I also note that the Power Relations in Higher Music Education (PRIhME) project has concluded. Its Stakeholder Assembly recommendations can be found on the AEC website alongside useful toolkits and guides, and I would invite all AEC Members to read them. Deborah Kelleher, AEC President This month we get to hear from Bernard Lanskey, Director - Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (AEC Associate Member) talking about AEC’s journey through the years towards becoming a more inclusive and globally aware organisation. This month we look at the recent developments concerning the 2024 EU budget and in particular Creative Europe’s budget. To explore what successful advocacy is and how to develop, prepare and implement successful advocacy actions, AEC will hold a workshop for its members in the frame of its upcoming Annual Congress. On 2nd October, members of the AEC Diversity, Inclusion and Gender Equality (DIGE) Working Group delivered a workshop on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues at the Conservatorio di Musica Alessandro Scarlatti in Palermo, gathering 40 participants from 6 HME institutions in Sicily.
