Tasting Notes: El Abuelo Organic Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of 65% Verdejo and 35% Sauvignon Blanc which merge into aromas and flavours of intense citrus, lime and tropical fruit, supported by refreshing acidity and a lingering finish.

Terroir/Region: The Almansa region of Spain is a plain sloping from 1000m altitude down toward the ocean from the higher plains above. This allows wineries to take advantage of the higher altitudes where white grapes can build great flavour while maintaining freshness. Both are key elements to making white wine which comes through perfectly in El Abuelo Organic.
Producer: Bodegas Piqueras has been family-owned and operated since its founding over a century ago. The family has honoured the founder and ‘grandfather’ (‘El Abuelo’ en español) of the family, Luis Piqueras, whose picture is found on each bottle of El Abuelo Organic wine. Luis opened a small winery in 1915 to sell jug wine in the town and his children and grandchildren have taken it from there.
