Healthier Times is the Public Health newsletter.

The aim is to share news on upcoming campaigns, updates on new and existing projects, success stories and challenge some public health myths.

Changes to South Tyneside maternity services

A new midwifery-led birthing centre opened at South Tyneside District Hospital this summer, offering women more choice on where to give birth.

HPV vaccine

All 12 and 13 year olds in school Year 8 are now being offered the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine on the NHS.

Every Mind Matters

Public Health England's major new Mental Health campaign, “Every Mind Matters” launches on 7 October 2019. The campaign will support everyone to feel more confident in taking action to take care of their mental health and wellbeing.

World Mental Health Day 2019

World Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 10 October 2019 and this year the theme is suicide. Find out more about how we’re raising awareness of suicide, suicide prevention and mental wellbeing.

We are running pop up shops at a range of venues across South Tyneside, aimed at providing information about how to keep you safe, healthy and free from abuse and neglect.
