Home Is Where My Heart Is, is a peer mentorship project that supports homeless young people share their stories through photography.
We invite you to attend the exhibitions opening night to view these inspiring, honest stories and beautiful photographs.
Opening event: Thursday 4th August, 6pm
State Libary of Western Australia
The exhibition runs from 1st to 14th August, open during standard library opening hours.

OMI Community Grants program still open
|
|
The August 2016 Community Grants Program (CGP) round is still open and accepting submissions.
Categories have specific focus areas described in the grant guidelines. Applications for the following grants are now available:
• events and activities up to $5000
• small projects $5000–$20,000.
The guidelines and application forms can be accessed on the OMI website.
Applications close at 4pm Friday 12 August 2016.

Funding Forum
|
|
The Office of Multicultural Interests, in partnership with the City of Wanneroo, are holding a funding forum that brings together key funding providers to talk about opportunities available for community projects.
Date: Tuesday 9 August 2016
Time: 6-8pm
Venue: Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, 3 Rocco Way, Wanneroo
The forum will cover:
- Finding the right funding source for your idea
- How to write a better grant application
- What are your responsiblities once you get a grant
All presenters will be available for one-on-one discussions following the presentations. Light refreshments will be served.

Accommodation for CALD youth at risk of homelessness
|
|
Foyer Oxford is looking to accommodate more young people from CaLD background who are at risk of homelessness. Based at the North Metro TAFE campus on Oxford Street in Leederville, apartments are available for students and young workers who have no stable place to stay, but are motivated to continue their study and work journey. The accommodations combine wrap around 24/7 support, with subsidised high quality housing to enable residents to achieve their goals and transition to an independent life.
If you or any young person you know of is:

Between the age of 16-23
-
Have no stable, long-term place to stay
-
Be motivated to get into education, training or employment (or are already there)
-
Are happy to be supported by a case manager
-
Have Australian Citizenship or permanent residency
-
Are eligible for independent rate of Youth Allowance or New Start
-
Earn under $47,000 per year

Shine a Light - Walk Cape to Cape

Shine a Light aims to raise awareness about the plight of refugees and asylum seekers while helping them to overcome adversity. Join the amazing team as they walk from cape Naturaliste to cape Leeuwin. Proceeds will go towards supporting Shine a Light for Kakuma & the Fair Go For Asylum Seekers campaign.

"Stop the Violence" Campaign
|

The Organisation of African Communities Western Australia cordially invites you to participate in their upcoming "Stop the Violence" campaign.
The Campaign is aimed at rasing awareness about the need to stop violence, of which is perpetrated outside of and witihin the African communities living in Western Australia.
The campaign will be focusing on the following objectives:
1. To identify what violence is and create awareness of how to stop it both within and outside of African communities. especially amongst the youth .
2. Engage btoh Africans and non-Africans to work in partnership with the youth department of OACWA in establishing communitbase solutions to stopping violence in Western Australia.

This year is the 30th anniversary since the establishment of the Australian Human Rights Commission. These awards provide an excellent opportunity to celebrate the significant milestones in human rights advancements made over the past 30 years.
