I am honored to write to you as the president of ECF and invite you to participate in the Epicurean Charitable Foundation’s Fifth Annual Golf Classic, Monday the 4th of May at Canyon Gate Country Club.
I am reaching out to introduce you to a local program that is making a big impact on the industry and to request your support. Supporting ECF students is a great investment in our community. All of our students are currently enrolled in UNLV with the intention of becoming leaders in Las Vegas’ primary industry: hospitality. The vast majority of our students find employment in the city after graduating.
The ECF Golf Classic is a social day of golf featuring a putting contest at 7:15am and an 8am shotgun requirement of two drives from each player in the group. There will be contests on the course. Complimentary beverages will be available throughout the round followed by a BBQ lunch, raffle, and awards presentations in the clubhouse following play. ECF is a Las Vegas-based, non-profit organization committed to making a positive difference in the community and enriching the lives of deserving local students by providing mentorship and educational support as they pursue a career in the field of hospitality. Many low-income students have simply given up on education because they know they do not have the financial or emotional wherewithal to make it through higher education. For those at-risk young adults, the obstacles to achieving their dreams seem to increase every year. The skyrocketing costs of a higher education present a major barrier to the future of our young people. ECF’s Future Leaders of Hospitality Program addresses these issues by making a college education accessible to low-income, young adults, while also helping mold their skill sets to create a highly qualified, local workforce that supportLas Vegas’ primary industry.

The Cause
FUTURE LEADERS OF HOSPITALITY PROGRAM
In addition to earning a scholarship to the university of their choice, ECF scholarship recipients also benefit from the Future Leaders of Hospitality Program, which pairs a student with a mentor from the board each year for the duration of their education. Mentees meet with their mentor at least once a month to receive personal guidance and invaluable professional experience. ECF provides our students university scholarships (tuition, books, and fees), networking, leadership training, etiquette development, and internship and job placement opportunities with comprehensive work force development programs.
Canyon Gate Country Club is opening its course for our tournament. The course features rolling fairways, dramatic water features, and multi-tiered greens.
