Welcome to 2018.

So what did we get up to in 2017...

We built a shop, we held a rad comp, we got fitter, we made a lot of good friends, we fought through some genuinely miserable workouts together but most importantly we had a shit tonne of fun..

Fitness is important. I’ve been focusing on it for almost 15years. But having fun is equally as important. Particularly when you are deep in the bowels (cos that’s where you are!) of a really nasty workout. If things aren’t going to plan, take a breath, finish the rep, move on. None of us are playing for Ferraris.

Chastising and beating yourself up based on some expectation that you ‘should have done better’ is just not fair on yourself.

At that point in time, on that particular day, during that particular workout, you did the best you could.

And sadly, regardless of what you did or didn’t do in the workout, it will all be forgotten by tomorrow.

So our challenge for this year is to be present, smile often, enjoy the experience of what we do with our fitness and have fun.

The 2017 CFSTK Texas Death Match

The TXS DXM was my way of doing something different for a CrossFit Comp/Throwdown. I’m not a fan of most CF comps. I think they are too long, boring A.F for spectators, and sorta silly. (But yes I still do them...)

So the TXS DXM was a combination of a skateboarding Texas Death Match and a poker game. Basically you buy in, and if you fold/miss a trick, you’re out, last man standing is the winner, winner takes all.

The TXS DXM works on a running clock with a workout every 15minutes. Prior to event 1 all athletes put their $25 cash into the pot for the house to hold.

Each round a certain number of athletes are eliminated. At the end of the 4 Rounds there is a 3 Athlete Final. The first athlete to step onto the winners mat TAKES ALL.

The Buy In.

The Events.

Event 1 - Big Dawgs V2
60-50-40-30-20-10 Double Unders
10 Burpee after each set

Event 2 - 10RFT
4 Toes 2 Bar
6 Box Jump Overs

Event 3 - The Dollar
100 Dumbell Snatch

Event 4 - OMAR
With an 8min Clock.
1000m Run Buy In - then:
Max Reps DB Overhead Squat in time remaining

The Final: Unbroken
16 Kipping Handstand Push
Then 3 unbroken sets of:
10 Hang Power Cleans
8 Shoulder to Overhead
6 Hang Clusters
14 Kipping Handstand Push Ups
Then 2 unbroken sets of:
10 Hang Power Cleans
8 Shoulder to Overhead
6 Hang Clusters
12 Kipping Handstand Push Ups
Then 1 unbroken set of:
10 Hang Power Cleans
8 Shoulder to Overhead
6 Hang Clusters

Chase Frankenfeld in the Final.

Winner takes ALL.

Kieran Hogan winning the $350 POT.

Not bad for 75minutes of fitness...

Big shouts to Clay, Brad, Robbie, Kieran, Chase, Danny, Stew and Tommy.

TXS DXM2
