Authorisation of towing service providers

The Towing Services Act 2024 includes provisions for occupational authorisation for those undertaking regulated towing. We are currently working towards introducing the authorisation of towing service providers.

To be authorised, towing service providers need to meet certain requirements. For example, providing a National Police Clearance to demonstrate good character.

Another requirement for the authorisation of towing service providers will be holding or using a suitable storage yard.

DoT would appreciate your advice in defining what is a suitable yard for running a crash towing business.
