November 2017 Smarter Together News
Welcome to the latest edition of news from the Smarter Together project, a member of the EU Horizon 2020 research program. The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon; the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice; and the observer cities Kiev and Yokohama come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility.
Smarter Together Participates in the SCIS Conference
From 2-3 October 2017, Smarter Together participated in the conference “Empowering Smart Solutions for Better Cities,” organized by the Smart Cities Information System in Budapest, Hungary. Click here to read more about the nature of Smarter Together's participation.
Preparing for Barcelona Smart City Expo: Smarter Together's Schedule
Smarter Together is gearing up to participate in the Smart City Expo World Congress on 14-16 November, a conference bringing together more than 17.000 visitors, 600 exhibitors, high level representatives from more than 650 cities. Click here to access the full Smarter Together-specific schedule.
Smarter Together Participates in the EIP-SCC General Assembly
On Thursday, 12 October, Smarter Together joined fellow H2020-funded Lighthouse projects, industry partners, public and private sector representatives, and other stakeholders at the EIP-SCC General Assembly held in Brussels. Vienna Presents Key Refurbishment of Two Secondary Schools
On 29 September 2017, Smarter Together Vienna presented one of its key integrated lighthouse projects: the refurbishment of two linked secondary schools ‘NMS Enkplatz I and II’ in Simmering. Read more about the upcoming works and the importance to students here!
Beat the Street With Smarter Together Vienna
From 10 October to 21 November 2017, 10 schools with over 4,000 pupils in Vienna’s Simmering district will participate in an innovative and fun mobility game: The Beat the Street in Simmering. For more information on the project's implementation and its partners, click here.
From Smarter Together Munich
Smart Home Devices for Residents in Munich
At the end of October, Smarter Together Munich organised a full-day promotional campaign offering smart home devices for all in Neuaubing-Westkreuz, the Munich district hosting the project. Smarter Together Gathers for its 18-Months' Review in Lyon
From 17-19 October, project partners gathered in Lyon for the Smarter Together progress review with the European Commission and INEA, as well as to join Lyon-based projects Next Buildings and Lyon Smart Community for a day of workshops and collaboration. 14-16 November - Barcelona, Spain The Congress gathers the most relevant experts and leaders of the world´s most innovative cities, companies, entrepreneurs, start-ups, research centers, initiatives and solutions, with strategies for a smarter and more sustainable urban world.
10th Annual SET Plan Conference
29 Nov to 1 Dec - Bratislava, Slovakia This conference will review the progress achieved over the past decade in the transition to a low carbon, innovative energy future and the SET Plan's key role as the technology pillar of EU's energy research and innovation policy.
4-5 December - Brussels, Belgium This event, organized in Brussels, Belgium will center around replication techniques of cities within the Smarter Together project and beyond, focusing on actionable solutions and providing support in the replication process.
