How does safe driving relate to construction job safety?
This question has taken on a whole new meaning, given that many people must get to their projects from home, often driving long distances during early hours. There are many hazards on the road during this time that directly affect workers’ safety. Alcohol and drugs, fatigue and distracted driving not only affect the person behind the wheel, but other drivers on the road as well. It is important to be alert while driving and to be aware of what other drivers are doing on the road.

MAREK’S SAIED ALAVI RETIRES AFTER 38 YEARS

On January 10, Saied Alavi, managing director-Houston, announced his immediate retirement from Marek Brothers Systems.

That month, Alavi worked with MAREK COO Mike Holland and the Houston leadership team to transfer over his operational responsibilities. Even in retirement, he will continue to work on a few special projects for MAREK CEO Stan Marek until at least June 30.

Mr. Alavi said he has enjoyed his time with the company but looks forward to the days ahead.

“My 38 years with MAREK have been extremely rewarding, but the time has come to start this new chapter that will allow me to spend more time with my family,” he said.
