Discovery Day - next Tuesday

Highlighting undergraduate student research and creative activity undertaken in the spring or summer months, Discovery Day is a time to view what your fellow students are researching both on and off campus and learn about research opportunities available for you in the new academic year.

This year’s event will be Tuesday, August 25 from 1-4 pm in Hodges Library, 2nd floor common area. (Free ice cream for the first 500 students who come by to visit the posters!)

Interested in showing your research and creative activity?

Students can register here to display their research and creative activity at Discovery Day. Registration deadline is August 21.

EXPLORE - database of undergraduate research opps

EXPLORE is UT’s new database of undergraduate research opportunities. Students can use EXPLORE to search for faculty by academic department, view open on-campus research positions, and view off-campus research opportunities.

Positions are listed as paid, volunteer, or for academic credit.

This is a new database and opportunities will be continually added throughout the year.

You can start viewing positions immediately at https://ugexplore.utk.edu. Log in using your netid and password.

Work-study Research Assisitant Positions

Were you awarded Work-study as part of your financial aid package? If so, check out the new Work-study Research Assistants Program.

The goal of this initiative is to expand opportunities for students to be introduced to the concept of scholarship, and to learn the research or scholarly methods in their field.

This is the pilot year and we are looking for 10 students who would like to participate. All positions are posted in EXPLORE and are open until filled.

Seminar Series

Begin your fall 2015 semester by attending a session in the Undergraduate Research Seminar Series! All seminars will be one hour in length on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. and held in Hodges Library unless otherwise noted. Bring your friends and learn how to get involved in undergraduate research! Pizza will be provided to the first 40 students on noted days.

Start with the Undergraduate Research Info Session on Tuesday, August 25!

Check out the rest of the topics and dates.
