Get reliable updates on COVID-19 (coronavirus) and lung cancerWith so much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, we are committed to providing medically accurate and credible information about the virus as it becomes available. We are working with the distinguished scientists and researchers of our esteemed Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to develop resources about the virus specifically for people affected by lung cancer. Some of these resources are now available in Spanish. LUNGevity is also partnering with other lung cancer advocacy groups to issue regular joint statements on COVID-19 to help people find reliable sources of information and be aware of its potential impact on vulnerable populations, including those with lung cancer. These updates are based on recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Advancements announced at annual Targeted Therapies meetingLUNGevity attended the 2020 Targeted Therapies of Lung Cancer meeting in Santa Monica in February. Now in its 20th year, the meeting brought together more than 600 doctors and scientists to discuss the latest pre-clinical and clinical research and advances in the treatment of lung cancer. Key areas of discussion included new treatment options for patients who develop resistance to targeted therapies, immunotherapy combinations, and use of therapies in early-stage lung cancer before/after surgery. In addition, we learned about new gene alterations such as NRG1 and another class of drugs called antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). We look forward to seeing where this science takes us next in lung cancer treatment and management.
