Dear friends and colleagues! After a long and partly unusually hot summer, which I hope was relaxing for you, life is now also returning to Brussels. The members of the Parliament are back from holidays, the European Commission is under full steam again producing both good and bad news, which is also reported in this newsletter. But above all, the AEC event season has started again with a very successful International Relations Coordinators Meeting in Leuven, and we are looking forward to slowly approaching AEC Congress 2023 in The Hague. A lot has happened since the summer: a new EU Commissioner for Culture, cuts in the Creative Europe 2024 budget, a report on the implementation of the Creative Europe programme since 2021 and so much more! Relive with us this year’s edition of the IRC Meeting that focused on “Opening Doors: Adopting a More Inclusive Perspective”. Artists, student artists, and/or cultural workers aged 18-30 and based in 14 EU countries are invited to respond to Culture Action Europe+’s call for a project that aims to mobilise citizens using art and culture as tools to enhance political participation. The Pop & Jazz Platform Preparatory Working Group is happy to announce the launch of two calls of contributions for the 2024 edition of the Pop & Jazz Platform which will take place in Odense, Denmark! The kick-off meeting of the VIETMUS project took place on 11-12 September at the Conservatorio di Musica Alessandro Scarlatti in Palermo, gathering project partners from Italy, Turkey and Belgium, as well as representatives from Vietnamese universities who form part of the consortium. The project's 3rd artistic residency took place in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria on 24-26 August 2023. The residency in Dimitrovgrad focused on visits to dissonant and lost cultural heritage sites, including meetings between inhabitants and artists. EASY internal institutions are invited to participate in the upcoming online trainings for the new EASY Mobility Online - the AEC European Online Application System. AEC Members are warmly invited to join the free MUSENSE Project event: “Embedding IT and Cyber in music training and performance” which will take place in Corfu (Greece) and online on 6-7 October.
