Wash Design: Educational Case Studies

Wash is a design practice working in many areas of visual communication: print design, brand identity, exhibition, moving image, interactive media and web. We have now brought our knowledge of working across many sectors, into the educational market place. Here is brief overview of our journey so far and the results it has produced.

Teesside High School Illustrations

Teesside High came to us needing a new logo mark and a whole new look as their current image was looking a little tired, yet the school had lots to offer. The message just wasn’t coming across.

After visiting the school and feeling the really positive approach the school had adopted, illustration was the only route we felt could really capture what was going on, where ‘everything is possible’, working with Jenny Bowers on a collection of illustrations that reflect the friendly and approachable nature of the school. This style has been used across the board on a new prospectus, signage, website, exhibition stands.

Teesside High School Brand, Prospectus and Website

“We employed Wash to give us a fresh image. We wanted a firm that would not attempt to re-design us in their own image but rather one that would sympathetically understand our ethos and aims and translate that into an imaginative forward looking attractive design. Wash have excelled, we now have a very clean distinctive image that reflects what we are but sets us apart from the crowd. Our enquiry rate has reached record levels and I would recommend Wash without hesitation.”

Bolton Community College: Rebrand

Creation of a bold logo that represents the beginning of a new phase for Bolton Community College.

Establishing a brand that accurately reflects the college’s impressive record as well as encompassing its plans for the future is a crucial part of the development process. Wash was commissioned to get the ball rolling with a new logo that celebrates the provision of learning resources to the school leavers, adults, community groups and businesses who all currently benefit from the college’s services.

Bolton Community College: Hoardings & Video

“Wash successfully pitched to re-brand Bolton College by providing an innovative solution to how the College could promote its four target markets through one brand. I was impressed by the thorough research undertaken to understand our target markets including liaison with our PR agency and individual departments. Their attention to detail and taking on board our comments was refreshing. I have total confidence in their ability to deliver excellent work within budget.”

Crookhey Hall: Prospectus

Crookhey Hall School, a last chance school for boys needing a little assistance through their educational years. Working to a tight budget they approached Wash to look at their logo and prospectus; it needed to be honest and straight to the point. Wash are currently working on a website and blog.

Windermere St Annes: Prospectus

Windermere St Anne’s approached us needing a whole range of promotional materials. The aim was to capture the natural surroundings and everyday life at Windermere St. Anne's School. Going against convention we designed a book-sized collection of smaller prospectuses held in a dual purpose box and envelope. In our ongoing relationship we have created a website and wide range of other materials from adverts to exhibition stands.

Windermere St Annes: Website and Exhibition

“Having worked with Wash Design on two school branding projects I can highly recommend their work. Their designs are definitely bespoke, their approach highly creative, but most importantly their work produces results. Wash Design work closely with Senior Management and the Board to understand the schools focus and develop a brand that works to highlight strengths and differentiate in this very competitive market.”

Rossall School: Prospectus

Wash’s first education sector client asked for a new prospectus. The concept that took the reader on a pictorial journey: A ‘day in the life’ of a selection of pupils from Nursery up to 6th Form, giving a wonderful overview of the school. This photographic collateral was used in the prospectus, all other print materials and advertising.
