1. Higher Education and Research Forum

 
The first Higher Education and Research Forum organised by the British Council in Cyprus
 

More than seventy policy makers and education leaders in higher education from Cyprus and the UK will be attending the first Higher Education and Research Forum organised by the British Council in Cyprus to be held on Thursday, 21 February 2019 in Nicosia.

 

 
'Higher Education and Research Forum: The future of UK-Cyprus collaboration post-Brexit’
 

The Forum aims to examine the potential implications of Brexit on existing and future Transnational Education (TNE) opportunities in Cyprus.

2. Cyprus International Education and Career Exhibition 2019

 
Learn about educational opportunities in UK
 

The British Council Cyprus is supporting the Cyprus International Education and Careers Fair that will take place at the Cyprus International Fair grounds in Nicosia between Friday, 15 February and Sunday, 17 February 2019.

Students will be able to meet representatives of UK institutions and obtain first level information about examinations, UK education related services and accommodation options.

 

 
 

British Council Cyprus will exhibit at pavilion number 12 sponsored by UNITE STUDENTS and IELTS.

3. Famelab® Cyprus 2019 is now open for applications!

 
 

If you think you can explain a scientific concept to a general audience in just three minutes, then why not enter FameLab®? You could become the new face of science, represent Cyprus at the FameLab® International final in the UK, and open doors to global opportunities in science communication!

Who can apply?

The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over working in or studying science, technology, engineering, mathematics or medicine with a very good knowledge of the English language – Undergraduate and postgraduate students, teachers, professors, scientists and researchers are all welcome to apply!

 

 
Can you explain a scientific concept to a lay audience in just three minutes?
 

The Prizes

The ten finalists win a two-day ‘MasterClass’ in science communication lead by a qualified UK trainer, where they will learn media and presentation skills. The three top finalists will win first, second and third prize awards.

The overall FameLab® Cyprus winner will win an all expenses paid trip to the Cheltenham Science Festival in Cheltenham, UK to compete in the FameLab® International competition.
 

First Prize: 1000 euro

Second Prize: 500 euro

Third Prize: 250 euro

4. Cambridge English Qualifications online registration June 2019

 
Online Registration for Cambridge English Qualifications June 2019
 

The last day to register for Cambridge English Qualifications June 2019 is Monday, 15 April 2019.

To find out registration deadlines, as well as the exam dates and fees, please go to our Online Registration and Application Forms page. All registrations must be done online.

Cambridge Young Learner sessions are also run on demand. The exam can take place at your venue if your venue meets the board requirements and minimum registered candidate numbers.

5. Pearson/Edexcel online registration May - June 2019

The registration period for the Pearson/Edexcel May/June 2019 examination session is still open. The deadline to submit your registration with a normal fee is on Tuesday, 12 March 2019.

How to register

 
Important
 

Please pay attention to Cash Ins in order to receive your certificate and an overall grade. Under Cash In column you have to select Y (Yes) if you would like to Cash In your subjects or N (No)  if you don’t want to Cash In.  If you select Y (Yes) then you have to add the Cash In code as a subject, you can choose the Cash In code from the drop down list.  Without a Cash In code candidates will not receive an overall grade and a certificate for the subject. Failure to Cash In during the registration period will be subject to a late fee.

As Pearson is introducing new specifications for the IAL, GCE and International GCSE exams, please make sure that you choose the correct option code for your candidates, so as to avoid any mistakes during the examination and results. Information can be found here.

 
 
 

6. Cambridge International Online Registration May - June 2019

 
Online Registration for Cambridge International May/June 2019
 

The registration period for the Cambridge International May/June 2019 exam session is still open.  Until Tuesday, 2 April 2019 we will be accepting entries with a late fee.

Please note that Cambridge International changed the option codes for the IGCSE English as a Second Language exams – 0510 and 0511 for May/June 2019 session.  Find more information here.

 

 
Access Arrangements
 

If you have candidates with Access Arrangements, you have to send us the medical report (the medical should be in English and a recent one) immediately after you complete the registration.

7. Going Global 2019

 
Registration is now open
 

The conference will be held from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 May 2019 at the bcc Berlin Congress Center, Germany.

 

 
Going Global is a conference for leaders in international education to debate the future of further and higher education.
 

If you are a university or college vice-chancellor, president or principal, an adviser, minister or government representative, journalist or policy and strategy maker, or a professional and trade body working in international education, then we look forward to seeing you there.

Child protection

The British Council will not allow children under the age of 18 to leave the premises alone at the end of the examination, unless there is a consent form.

10. Our Loyalty schemes

 
 

The British Council in Cyprus operates two loyalty schemes; the Addvantage membership scheme and Partner Schools Global Network (PSGN).

The Addvantage membership scheme covers schools and institutes that register their candidates through the British Council for Cambridge English Qualifications (Young Learners, A1 Key, A2 Preliminary, B1 First and others) as well as IELTS.

PSGN covers schools and institutes that register their candidates through the British Council for IGCSEs, International GCSEs, A levels and International A levels, of either Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel.

11. Our Future 2019: English exams competition

 
 

For the second year, we are giving school-aged students and teachers in Europe a chance to work in a team and make their own English exam speaking question.

Teachers, enter the Our Future 2019 English exams competition with your students and help them prepare for their English exam through an exciting collaborative task.  There are fantastic prizes for students, and teachers can win a trip to the UK with entrance to IATEFL conference.

 

 
Our Future 2019 is the biggest English exams competition for school-age learners in Europe.
 

 

In order to participate in the British Council’s Our Future competition you need to be a member of our Addvantage membership scheme.

12. PSGN: 2019 Schools Now! Online Conference

The International Fashion Showcase (IFS) nurtures and presents work from the best up-and-coming fashion talent from around the world. The biennial fashion presentation is a partnership between the British Council, British Fashion Council, London College of Fashion, UAL and Somerset House.

 

 
Sixteen of the world’s best emerging fashion designers to exhibit in London at the International Fashion Showcase 2019
 

For London Fashion Week this February, the showcase has a new format. For the first time, 16 selected designers from across the globe will showcase a series of compelling installations to represent their respective country. The designers will explore politics, sustainability, identity and heritage and show their latest designs in immersive environments.
